Chelsea v Everton, 16:00

For the two managers on show this is going to be the last game they oversee from this position, and while David Moyes will probably be missed more than Rafa Benitez it is fair to say there has been a thawing out of the rather chilly relationship the Spaniard had with the Stamford Bridge crowd of late. Everton haven’t won in half-a-dozen away trips while Chelsea are on a run of five wins and a draw in their last six home games, but their exertions in the Europa could cost them and the 8/1 on a 1-1 draw looks good if that is the case, with Victor Chandler.

Chelsea will be without John Terry with an ankle injury while influential midfielder Ramires is suspended. Leighton Baines is primed to start, but Phil Neville will make his farewell from the stands due to a persistent knee injury.

Liverpool v QPR, 16:00

If Liverpool had anything much riding on their last game of the season it would be a great bit of serendipity to find themselves up against a QPR side already relegated from the league who have a number of players plotting their escape to pastures fresh, but they don’t. The Reds are unbeaten in eight matches, but only three of those have been maximums and their last three home matches have also ended level. 888sport have 16/5 on a home win by 2 goals, but Liverpool could cut loose if the game works out right for them.

Jamie Carragher will captain Liverpool in his final game for the club in the absence of Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez and Daniel Agger, and Martin Skrtel could return after missing last weekend’s win at Fulham. QPR will have Loic Remy available despite his midweek arrest for alleged rape, but not Adel Taarabt, Shaun Wright-Phillips or DJ Campbell, who are injured.

Man City v Norwich, 16:00

There was a story going around midweek that City’s match with Reading on Tuesday got in the way of plans the players had made to celebrate the end of Roberto Mancini’s reign as manager, such were the issue en camp, but there is an aggressive PR campaign being run by the club against the Italian, making it hard to be sure. City have won their last five league games at home with Norwich having lost four and drawn two in their last six away games, and SkyBet only having 7/4 on them winning by 3 or more shows how heavily they are fancied here today.

Manchester City’s Kolo Toure and Sergio Aguero are both being monitored after picking up knocks midweek, but Vincent Kompany and Matija Nastasic were rested for that match and could return, as could Pablo Zabaleta. Norwich have no reported new injuries so could field the same line-up that thrashed West Brom last weekend, with Michael Turner still doubtful with a groin injury.

Newcastle v Arsenal, 16:00

There have been some pretty ill-advised comments from Alan Pardew in the press this week about how his players would approach this game now they are safe from relegation, and to many it will come as a surprise to know the Newcastle team were trying in the 6-0 loss to Liverpool, when their safety was on the line. Arsenal need to win in order to be sure of a place in the Champions League, and have won five of their last six away matches in the league, suggesting they are well capable. On the other hand, the Geordies have four wins in their last six home games, but at 12/1 to win 3-1 with Stan James Arsenal would be my pick

Newcastle winger Sylvain Marveaux could return and Cheick Tiote should be fit after limping off last weekend, with Steve Harper starting the match as his 20 year stay at the club comes to an end. Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta is very doubtful and could be replaced by Jack Wilshere, but Olivier Giroud is available after serving a three-match ban.

Southampton v Stoke, 16:00

Both of these sides are safe from relegation after a long and nerve-wracking flirtation, but neither is enjoying a quiet end to the year. Some frankly moronic ‘pranks’ in the Stoke dressing-room have served to illustrate once more just how low some players will go, while Southampton are currently dealing with a power-struggle in the boardroom. Neither side is in much form, and I’d expect less than 2/5 goals, at 4/6 with Bet365.

Southampton’s Rickie Lambert and Luke Shaw will be assessed ahead of the game, while Steve de Ridder and Vegard Forren are also doubts and both Gaston Ramirez and Danny Fox are suspended. Stoke midfielder Charlie Adam is also banned after getting sent off against and Glenn Whelan is again doubtful with a groin injury.

Swansea v Fulham, 16:00

In terms of uninspiring form, Swansea are doing their best with just two wins in their last six home games, and since their Capital One Cup win their much-lauded manager has really struggled to motivate his team. Fulham themselves have five losses in their last six away trips and seem to be on the beach themselves, not even scoring a single goal in their last four games, and in this battle of the mediocre a low-scoring draw or 1-0 win for the Swans, at 8’s with Victor Chandler, looks a safe bet.

Swansea boss Michael Laudrup may select the same team that narrowly lost to Manchester United , with Michel Vorm is still out alongside injured midfielder Ki Sung-Yeung. Fulham midfielder Steve Sidwell is suspended and Simon Davies, Ashkan Dejagah and Mahamadou Diarra will finish the year injured.

Spurs v Sunderland, 16:00

Tottenham are once again relying on results elsewhere to help them to a spot in the Champions League next year, and once again it is bitter rivals Arsenal in the position they wish they could occupy. Having won four of their last six at home and facing a Sunderland side conceding an average of 1.9 goals per game, getting the win won’t really be too tough if Spurs play to capacity, although it will probably be in vain. Jermaine Defoe is 11/8 on the score/win with Betfred, behind Bale at evens, and either could tear through Norwich at any time.

Benoit Assou-Ekotto has recovered from a knee injury and is available for Tottenham but Sandro and defensive duo Younes Kaboul and William Gallas are still out. Sunderland are without left-back Danny Rose against his parent club, Stephane Sessegnon and Craig Gardner are suspended but Connor Wickham is available.

West Brom v Man Utd, 16:00

We all know this game is really about the game itself, but the end of a couple of very special eras in United history, and as a result West Brom have had to deal with a few ticketing issues this week. United won’t want to say goodbye to the greatest winner Britain has known with anything less than three points, and are undefeated in half-a-dozen away games, so you can expect a performance, and Robin van Persie is 11/5 with 888sport in the score/win double.

West Brom’s Steven Reid picked up a knock at Norwich but could recover in time and Marc-Antoine Fortune is back from a ban. Sir Alex Ferguson is set to start Jonny Evans and Phil Jones in defence and Anders Lindegaard has been promised a place in goal, but Rafael is banned while forward Wayne Rooney will not feature as he awaits the birth of his second child.

West Ham v Reading, 16:00

Reading have had a pretty miserable season in the Premier League, and to a large extent the Royals are victims of their own success having overachieved to get here in the first place, but they’ve represented themselves as well as they could and won a few fans along the way. The Hammer have only won three of their last six at home, but Reading come off five losses in their last six away games and at 14/5 with Ladbrokes to win by a 1-goal margin West Ham must be favourites.

Sam Allardyce’s only real fitness issues are James Tomkins and the long-term absence of George McCartney, but other than that he should have a full-strength side available. Reading boss Nigel Adkins will have to make do without winger Jimmy Kebe and forward Jason Roberts.

Wigan v Aston Villa, 16:00

Last weekend it looked as though this may be the biggest game of the final day, but Wigan couldn’t quite get it together and keep their challenge for safety alive, much to the relief of all at Villa. The vultures may be circling the squad and manager, but Wigan will want to go out with a bang. 32Red have 3/4 on there being more than 2.5 goals scored, not bad when you consider Wigan have shipped two or more in each of their last five games.

Wigan’s Callum McManaman misses out after suffering ankle ligament damage in the 4-1 loss at Arsenal. But Latics manager Roberto Martinez hopes wing-back Jean Beausejour will return from a hamstring problem. Aston Villa are without suspended striker Christian Benteke, so Darren Bent could get a rare start. Matthew Lowton could return after a thigh problem while Karim El Ahmadi (also thigh) is back in contention, but Ciaran Clark (foot) misses out.

Bradford v Northampton, 13:30

New Wembley is a glorious stadium, fit to host the greatest of games and this weekend Bradford make their second trip. To many they are playing in two of the smallest events the ground hosts each year, the Capital One Cup and the League Two playoff final, but for the fans the trips to the home of football and massive highlights, and the prize on offer for Northampton and the Bantams is a place in League One, and a step on the road to greater glory. At 7/5 Bradford are slight favourites, with Northampton 23/10, and the bookies don’t reckon it’ll be double trouble at Wembley for the beaten League Cup finalists.

It remains to be seen whether Wembley holds any bad memories for Bradford, but in the play-off semi-finals Bradford beat Burton 5-4 on aggregate in a thrilling match up, while Northampton came through against Cheltenham with an aggregate 2-0 win, suggesting that the Bantams either had a harder opponent or have a leakier defence. However, Bradford won both league meetings between the two by a score of 1-0 and put Northampton out on penalties after a replay in the FA Cup 1st round, and will feel confident against a team they haven’t lost to all season. Victor Chandler have 9/1 on a 2-1 Bradford win, and the 13/10 with Coral on more than 2.5 goals could be worth a look.

Bradford City have no new injury or suspension concerns ahead of their first play-off final since 1996, and are likely to name the same side that started the second leg of the semi-final. Northampton Town have ongoing doubts over Clive Platt and Joe Widdowson, who have back and knee problems respectively, but both have a chance of playing and Alex Nicholls is the only definite absentee after suffering a double leg break in October that ended his season.

Benfica v Chelsea, 19:45

This isn’t last summer, and the victory over Bayern Munich brought so much happiness to the little billionaire that could, but even so Chelsea are the last side left in European competition this term and remain the best advert for hiring managers who understand football outside of the British system. The departure of Sir Alex Ferguson this month is a timely reminder of the value of stability, but also highlights the fact that success in the Premier League and success in Europe require different skillsets, and men like Rafa Benitez have far more of the second than the average Brit, or maybe even the greatest of all our native managers.

There is no doubt that Chelsea had the slightly easier route to the final, beating Bucharest, Rubin Kazan and then Basel, conquerors of Spurs, in the semi-finals, and as Benfica haven’t been able to tie up the league title as comfortably as they may have been expecting, their preparation has been tougher than they expected. Bordeaux were no walkovers for the Portuguese side, and Fenerbahce pushed them close as well, but the results finally came and now they are a game away from a title that would mean a huge amount to their fans.

Cheslea are slight favourites at 7/5 to the 23/10 you can get on Benfica, and Victor Chandler have 9/4 on Torres to score anytime, with Stan James having 4’s on the score/win. Eden Hazard has been ruled out with a hamstring strain, and John Terry and John Mikel Obi are both doubts to start, but Chelsea duo Ramires and David Luiz are fit to face their former club
