England will face Germany for the eighth time at a major tournament and this should be a cracking 90 minutes between two teams who will fancy their chances of progressing.
The Three Lions were less than impressive during the group stage, although they showed moments of quality in the final third. Gareth Southgate’s side will need to be far more incisive going forward with only Raheem Sterling having netted for them so far. Nevertheless, they are yet to concede a goal and with a first choice defensive partnership of Harry Maguire and John Stones both available, they should be tough to beat.
Germany endured a topsy-turvy Group F campaign, however, they looked very impressive going forward against Hungary. The produced an xG of 2.23, had 75% possession, yet they got caught out twice at the back.
England need to be far more ruthless in the final third, however, if they ask questions of the German defence, they should be able to find a way through.
