Iran v Wales = Both Teams to Score – Yes
Iran were thumped by England on Monday, but they were much improved in the second half and found the net twice (albeit the second came from a questionable penalty). Carlos Queiroz has been criticised for playing an unfamiliar back five in that game, and he may revert back to a more familiar approach for this must-win fixture.
With Mehdi Taremi and Sardar Azmoun in the side, they always possess a threat. Wales looked excellent in the second half against the USA, and they created a few chances.
Nevertheless, they did have the tendency to panic at the back and got caught out for the opening goal. This could be a decent match between two sides who will be aware that this is a good chance to take all three points.
Qatar v Senegal = Senegal to WIN
As hosts, Qatar were bitterly disappointing on Sunday evening. They created very few meaningful chances and when their big opportunity arose, they failed to put the ball in the back of the net. They found it tough against Ecuador and they are unlikely to find it any easier against a Senegal side, who have pace on the flanks.
They will have felt disappointed to have been defeated by a 2 goal deficit on Monday, however, they do need to be more clinical this time around.
Aliou Cisse’s men have plenty of dangermen and if they take the lead, it’s hard to see them being pegged back.
England v USA = Over 2.5 Goals
England made the perfect start to life in Group B and despite their price as tournament outrights drifting during the last few months, they will be expected to progress easily. They looked excellent going forward throughout the 90 minutes and although there are still potential question marks about one or two defenders, they should have more than enough firepower for the USA.
The USNMT were brilliant during the first half against Wales, however, they struggled following the introduction of Keiffer Moore. They picked up a few bookings and a couple of injuries and could find themselves struggling at the back once again on Friday evening.
