Cameroon v Serbia = Serbia to WIN
Serbia were outclassed by Brazil in their Group G opener and although they didn’t manage a shot on target during the 90 minutes, they should be able to bounce back here. They showed enough promise going forward and were surprisingly well-organised defensively for the first 60 minutes and that should be enough to take all three points from this encounter.
Cameroon battled against Switzerland, however, they switched off in the second half and paid the ultimate price. There are some decent individuals in this Cameroon squad, with the likes of Bryan Mbuemo and Eric Choupo-Moting looking lively, however, their insistence on playing it out from the back could easily put them in danger here.
Brazil v Switzerland = Brazil to WIN & Over 1.5 Goals
Brazil showcased their credentials on Thursday evening as they eased past Serbia. Although the Swiss can be tricky customers, that match was widely regarded as the Selecao’s toughest Group G fixture and they came through it with flying colours. They are extremely well-stocked in forward areas and even at 2-0 up, they continued to churn out chances.
With 20+ efforts on goal, they were relentless throughout the 90 minutes and they should put in a similar display here. Switzerland were functional on Thursday, but looked fairly average and could find this tough.
Portugal v Uruguay – Draw
Uruguay were a little toothless as they failed to find a way past South Korea on Thursday afternoon. Having been dubbed as potential dark horses for the tournament by some pundits, Diego Alonso’s side will have to significantly increase their performance levels if they want to avoid finishing second and drawing Brazil in the round of 16.
They will also need to stop Portugal winning Group H and they will look to keep things tight here. Fernando Santos’ men beat Ghana, and they produced some moments of brilliance, however, they switched off at the back on a number of occasions and may have to settle for a point in this one.
